Just 4 years after inaugurating the Melia Cohiba, the Melia group inaugurated their Melia Habana hotel on November 1st 1998. Offering impressive views down the Havana Coastline from the up market Miramar district just off Havana´s ubiquitous 5th avenue, home to embassy’s and many corporate headquarters in Cuba.
As Melia´s second 5 star Hotel in Havana the offer could not be more different to the Cohiba. First of all, the hotel lends itself to tourism focused guests due to ample common areas and airy interior of glass covered gardens and lobby area. Walking through this botanical garden is one of Melia Habana´s major assets. You descend down to the restaurants from Reception and to the main buffet called Miramar.
For special occasions the La Bella Cubana restaurant is the hotels main A la carte eatery and offers amazing menu to cover every conceivable taste. Also in true Spanish tradition the rice restaurant Cojimar offers not only stunning paella but also some of Spain’s most tasty regional rice favorites including the famous black rice dish which uses octopus ink as the main ingredient. On the edge of the hotel though is the little gem La Scala. The Italian restaurant, of exquisite taste, where the team will make you feel welcome time and time again. Getting away from the crowd is also pretty easy because the hotel has some hidden bars such as the aptly named VIP bar which, by being hard to find, makes it pretty exclusive.

Although recent hotels such as the Panorama offer lower rates the Melia Habana continues to be a wise choice due to its age and unfussy service. Basically the Melia Habana, like many other Melia Hotels, is simply a sure fire effortless stay.
